The Alliance for Full Participation, through a grant from the Social Security Administration, has
developed a DVD and discussion guide so that the conversation that began at the 2005 Summit in
Washington DC can continue in communities across the country.
The DVD includes four separate video sections, each with an accompanying Study Guide:
Highlights: An overview of the Summit, its purpose and goals.
General Barriers to Full Participation: Full participation requires community involvement and engagement across many levels. This video provides a high level look at the challenges facing individuals working to achieve full participation.
Employment: Employing people with disabilities offers both challenges and opportunities. This video features panelists from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Byron S. Adams Legal and Commercial Printers, and MBNA, sharing the practices and policies that make their employment programs a success.
Direct Support Professionals: It requires a dedicated staff of support professionals to make the dream of full participation a reality. This video highlights the role of the direct support professional and outlines some of the challenges that impact these individuals’ effectiveness.
